Faculty Council
The Faculty Council is the highest body of our faculty. It discusses all issues affecting the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy: study matters, finances, personnel, etc.
The Faculty Council consists of seven representatives of the university teaching staff, two representatives of the academic staff and two representatives of the technical and administrative staff (MTV). The Faculty Council also includes two student representatives, who are elected by you every year in mid-January.
Study Commission
Study Commission
The Study Commission (StuKo) is of great importance for our degree program, as it regulates the entire course of studies. In particular, this means that professors, academic staff and students sit down together to work out the examination regulations that you are now studying under. Furthermore, course offerings are put together and your problems with your studies are discussed.
Our Dean of Studies, Prof. Achmus (Institute of Geotechnical Engineering), chairs the committee.
In this committee in particular, we have a good opportunity to make our voices heard and discuss our views, as we have the majority of votes.
Student Parliament
The Student Parliament (StuRa) has been in existence since the summer semester of 2005 and is made up of 71 students, 36 of whom are delegates of the student councils and 35 of whom are directly elected members of the StuRa.
The representatives of the student councils are elected by the student councils of the various faculties at the beginning of the legislative period. In most cases, they are subject to an imperative mandate, i.e. they must vote as instructed by their student council. The directly elected members of the StuRa are elected via lists in the university elections, which take place every year in January. These lists are drawn up by political parties, student councils and other groups.
The StuRa is the highest political body of student self-administration and all StuRa meetings are open to the public. The StuRa's tasks include electing and monitoring the AStA (General Student Committee), electing the Council of Elders and deciding on the student body's budget.
You can find more detailed information about university politics and student self-administration at www.asta-hannover.de.
Examination Board
Each degree program has an examination board, which has to make decisions whenever problems arise regarding any examination issues.
It consists of five professors, a research assistant, the program coordinator and two student representatives.
The respective chairpersons can be found on the faculty website.
